1. INTRODUCTION
2. FINAL PROJECT
Week 8 (15.10.2019)
We had a brief on the final project. We were supposed to make a landscape of the future either utopia or dystopia. A few examples were shown to us in class. Our task was to sketch our ideas onto a piece of paper and show them to Mr Martin and Mr Jeffrey on week 9.
Week 9 (22.10.2019)
For the first idea, I thought of the torch of the Statue of Liberty has plastic bags and a bird on it while the surrounding was flooded with plastic bags floating on polluted water. The second idea was inspired by the movie Wall-E's setting with rubbish heaps everywhere. Additionally, there was a tire on the front right of the composition with a bird and its hatchlings (or eggs) inside. Another idea was that I decided to show the disaster of consumerism and pollution by including rubbish heaps and old worn out buildings. This idea was actually inspired by a picture on instagram.

Week 10 (29.10.2019) - Week 12 (12.11.2019)
After getting feedback, the last idea was the only suitable one as the others didn't show any landscape view of the future.
I started searching for images on Google and downloaded them for editing and reference.

Initially, I masked the buildings and rubbish heaps.

Then, I made some duplicates, scaled the sizes and arranged the buildings.

I used this photo for color reference as I wanted the setting to be at sunset.

Fig 8.8 progress 1
The editing turned out really bad so I decided to follow the original photo's (Fig 8.1) color.
Fig 8.9 progress 2
I added more buildings in between as it looked weird if I
painted colors over.
Fig 8.10 added fog
After doing match color, I added mist by using
hue/saturation with gradient. The hierarchy of the buildings stood out more.
Fig 8.11 added mist
Finally, I added mist and a layer of blue (blending mode: multiply) to give it a blue tint.

Week 13 (19.11.2019) - Week 14 (26.11.2019)
Animation:
I thought of making the mist move subtly and the man's head moving downwards. I used Adobe After Effects for the animation.
For the mist, I used turbulence distortion while for the man's head movement, I used the puppet tool.

INSTRUCTIONS Exercises Project 1 Project 2 Final Project 2. SUBMISSIONS Exercises Determining book size We are to take an A3 paper or stick 2 A4 papers together then fold it into half. After that, we have to determine our book size by making at least 3 sizes which are between A5 to A4. SUBMISSIONS Turnitin Report (PDF) Fig 1.1 Turnitin Report (PDF) Flipbook (Fliphtml5) Fig 1.2 Flipbook Journal Article (PDF) Fig 1.3 Journal Article (PDF) 3. REFLECTION This module is very different from the other modules in the Creative Media course, because it focuses on research. This journey through design research methodology and design research dissertation has been interesting yet challenging, as we are exposed to the systematic way of conducting research. I have learnt a lot on research, such as methodology, discussion etc. It is also crucial to include references from reliable sources and provide justification wherever required. Otherwise, the research would be not convincing and reliable as it is not backed up by academic sources. Although I have faced many difficulties throughout both modul...
